PREBLE COUNTY — New Preble County Fairgrounds Manager James Mays called the opening weekend of the 164th “Famous” Preble County Fair a success and said he is looking forward to the remainder of the week.“I think it’s gone well,” he said. “Our numbers are up as far as people coming into the fair. They’re up a little bit, not much, but a little bit. Overall, I’ve had a lot of compliments on the grounds, the way it looks and the way they can see things going.”Mays said the threat of inclement weather over the weekend didn’t appear to keep fair-goers away.


Rabbit killings investigated

EATON — Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson has confirmed nine rabbits at the Preble County Fair were killed between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31. The PCSO is currently investigating. According to Simpson, all other rumored incidents are purely speculation at this point. All tips and leads are being investigated.
