The results were not what Eaton wrestling coach Mark Silvers had hoped for.
His Eagles placed 33rd at the GMVWCA Holiday Tournament, which was held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28, at Wright State University’s Nutter Center.
“We hopped out of the the frying pan and into the fire this weekend at the GMVWCA Holiday Tournament. One of my team goals in every tournament is for every wrestler to win at least three matches. We fell short,” he said. “Now we get back in the practice room and improve our weaknesses and build on our strengths.”
Silvers said 11 individuals won at least one match and two made it to the second day.
At 132 pounds, Blake Sittloh made it to the quarterfinals before suffering his first loss.
Drew Moore, at 152, went 3-2 and in his first Holiday Tournament and wrestled well, according to Silvers.
Eaton had a three finish with two wins. Mac Altom at 120 pounds, Logan Islamovsky at 220 and Shane Hammock at 285..
“As a team we finished 33 of 53. Not where we wanted . But now we build and have plenty of fire to fuel the coming work outs.
Eaton is not scheduled to compete again until Jan. 11, when they host Greeneview.
“They are very tough and will present us with a great challenge. It should be fun,” Silvers said.
