Emergency personnel responded to the bridge on North Ohio Street just before 9 a.m. on a report of a car that went off the bridge and landed on its top near the Greenville Creek.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a black Lexus sedan turned northbound on to Ohio Street from Martin Street when the driver began to lose control on the icy roadway. The car went off the road and fell nearly 30 feet, landing on its top on the rocky base next to the creek.
The driver of the Lexus, Nathan Haviza, 18, and the passenger Aaron Wise, 18, both seniors at Greenville High School were able to free themselves from their seat belts and reportedly kicked out a window to escape from the wreckage. Haviza and Wise suffered only minor cuts and bruises. Both were checked out and treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
