The Preble County County Cougars basketball team continued its dominance of the Generals, picking up its second straight win over the team made up of county “celebrities.” The Cougars used a 16-2 run over the games final minutes to defeat the Generals, 52-39. The game was played Saturday, March 1, at Eaton High School before a pro-Cougars crowd. The Cougars, who led for most of the game, fell behind early in the fourth quarter, 37-36, but went on a 14-0 run to retake control of the contest. The event was free, but donations were accepted as a way of raising funds for Preble County Special Olympics. The Generals are made up of local law enforcement, county and school officials and local business leaders. “They make it all worth-while,” Corey Mangan, who helped organize the event, said of the Generals. Special awards were given to Chad Mikesell (MVP) of the Cougars, Jeff Parker (Sportsmanship) of the Generals, and Cougars’ cheerleader Ellissa Barron for the Spirit Award.
