The Preble County Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced that its 2014 Visitors’ Guide is now available. Copies have been distributed to the public libraries in the county. Other locations where the Guide will be available include The Register-Herald office, the Preble County Court House, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce, the Preble County Council on Aging, the Preble County Historical Society, and the village office in Lewisburg. Eventually the Guide will be available in other locations around the county.
The Visitors’ Guide is available without charge. Advertising and income from the “bed tax” levied on visitors to our county who stay in our motels, bed and breakfasts, and certain campgrounds facilities cover the costs of publication.
An electronic copy of the Guide also is available on the web site of the Preble County Convention & Visitors Bureau at www.preblecountypassport.com.
The Guide includes lists of area restaurants and hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and campgrounds. It also includes a schedule of events that may be of interest to tourists as well as to residents. In this regard the Guide will replace the individual brochures distributed last year with the list of events and the list of restaurants in the county.
The Guide also includes articles about various features of Preble County that have high visitor interest. These include the Preble County Park District, the Preble County Covered Bridges, The Preble County Pork Festival, the Preble County Fair and Fairgrounds, the Preble County Historical Society, the Preble County District Library’s Genealogy Resources, Fort St. Clair, and the Visual Art Center of Preble County.
In addition, the Guide includes a list of specialty shops (including farm markets) and antique stores, a list of golf courses and recreational opportunities and facilities, and a list of Preble County Runs, Walks, and Shows.
All of this information is current as of the time of printing. Watch for occasional additions, corrections, changes on the web site at www.preblecountypassport.com or on Facebook at Preble County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
