The National Trail softball team picked up a pair of wins last week to see its record improve to 5-12 overall, and 4-5 in the Cross County Conference.
The Blazers’ first game of the week, scheduled to be played against Tri-County North on Tuesday, April 29, was postponed due to poor weather conditions.
Trail followed that up with a 17-0 beating of Union City, Indiana, on Wednesday, April 30.
The Blazers scored all 17 runs in the game’s first three innings, as they plated four runs in the first, six more in the second and topped it off with a seven-run third.
Overall, Trail collected 16 hits as several players contributed on the night.
Jennifer Stan went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Haylee Moreland also homered and drove in three runs. Payton Laird went 3-for-3 with a triple. Maegan Rogers and Marisa Wilson each added triples.
Allie Unger picked up the win, striking out five and allowing just four hits.
On Thursday, May 1, the Blazers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Twin Valley South 7-3.
Trail tallied six runs in the bottom of the 6th. Laird picked up the win.
Wilson added a home run during the key rally, while Stan added a triples. Acton and Moreland each added doubles.
Trail closed out the week with a 9-1 setback at Arcanum.
Wilson added a pair of hits, including a double and triple. Aleah Hunt added a double.
The final week of the regular season is scheduled to be a busy one for Trail.
They were scheduled to play Middletown Madison on Monday and Bradford on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they are to visit Eaton and go to Franklin-Monroe on Thursday. They will close out the week by hosting Stivers on Friday.
Trail will open tournament play at Versailles on Monday, May 12.
