Eaton’s track team will be sending five individuals in seven events to the regional meet this week.
The Eagles claimed three individual district titles during the Division II district meet at Graham High School Thursday, May 22 and Saturday, May 24.
“Tough district meet for both the girls and guys,” Eaton coach Randy McKinney said. “We are very pleased to have five athletes qualify through in seven events. We had several athletes just miss out with fifth place finishes, tough spot to be in, but what a great attempt on behalf of those athletes.”
Senior Michelle McKinney continued her stellar career by winning both the 800-and 1,600-meter runs. The win in the 800 was her fourth consecutive district title. The 1,600 title was her second straight and she just missed setting a district record.

“We always want to qualify more athletes through to the regional championships, but not any easy thing to do in a very tough D-II District meet at Graham. Most of our athletes had season or career personal bests in their respective events so not a bad way to end their 2014 season,” coach McKinney said.
The regional meet will be held Thursday, May 29 and Saturday, May 31 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton. Field events, boys’ pole vault, girls’ high jump, boys’ long jump and boys’ and girls’ discus, will begin at 4 p.m.
Running preliminaries will begin at 5 p.m.
