In the recent West Alexandria Baseball Organization tournament, Tracey Upchurch’s West Alexandria 13-15-year-old team were senior division champions. The tournament was a double elimination. The team won eight games, but had one loss early on.

“That put us in the losers’ bracket with a long road back to the championship side of the bracket,” Upchurch said.

Upchurch said winning the tournament required the entire team to work together, but also said one of the main reasons the team was able to perform so well was the performance of their pitchers Tanner Upchurch, Izik Paxson, Blake Holp and Bryant Marker.

Upchurch said the help of his assistant coaches and having players who are coachable and willing to play any position has helped him to win throughout his career as a coach.

The team consisted of Coach Tracey Upchurch, Assistant Coaches Paul South and Steve Haines, Branden Wright, Kadin Holp, Wendell Webb, Hunter Bennett, Bryant Marker, Josh Kurpe, Izik Paxson, Blake Holp, Chance Parks, Brady South, Tanner Upchurch and Jesse Woods.
