10-year-old All-Star team moving onto state tournament

EATON — Eaton Little League’s 10-year-old All-Star baseball team are Ohio District 8 Champions.


The team won their first game against Northridge, 17-2.


“It was a great team win,” Coach Chuck Winings said.


The team won their second game against Fairborn, 7-4, and won their third game against Enon, 20-1. Eaton played Englewood in the semi-final round. Winings said the team was down 3-0 after the first inning, but game back to win 14-4.


“We battled right back and won the ballgame,” Winings said.


Eaton played the championship game against Washington Courthouse and won 10-0.


Between the five games, Eaton outscored their opponents 68-11 and Winings said all thirteen players contributed in every game.


The team will now go on to play in the state tournament beginning July 26 in Bryan, Ohio.


Winings said his team played pretty much perfect baseball.


“Pitchers threw strikes and we hit the ball very well,” Winings said.
