Kids and families

Homeschool Hour: Collages

Homeschool students: learn the qualities for a good design (color, texture, shape) and make your own collage at the Eaton Library on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. The monthly program is for all homeschool students and educators.

Story Times

Bring the kids (11 and under) to the New Paris Library every Monday at 5 p.m. in February for story time and a craft.

Eaton Story Time Registration

Spring sessions of the Eaton Library’s story time run weekly from March 1 through April 6. Programs are available for children as young as three months and as old at 12 years. Registration opened on Feb. 1. For more information and to register, visit the Eaton Library at 301 N. Barron St. or call (937) 456-4331. Get your spot early, because space is limited.

Crafternoon

We’ll provide all the supplies for open crafting time at the West Elkton Library. Bring the kids to our next Crafternoon on Monday, March 6 at 4 p.m.

Valentine’s Day crafts at the library

Kids can make something for that special someone at one of the Valentine’s Day crafts around the county:

•Valentine Card Station: Kids can craft their own Valentine card at the New Paris Library on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

•Valentine Make & Take: The Eaton Library will have paper, stickers, doilies and more for you to turn into an awesome card for family or friends. The Valentine Make & Take is Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.

•Valentine’s Day Parties: Eat Valentine snacks and make a card for that special person. Program will be at the West Manchester Library on Monday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. and the Eldorado Library on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

•Valentine’s Crafting: The Camden Library will have Valentine’s-themed crafts for the kids on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Make sure to bring the kids to make something for that special someone!

Teens

Video Game Mashup

We’ll have a mix of games for the Nintendo Wii U at the West Elkton Library on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Teens can play some Super Mario Maker, Pokken Tournament, and Mario Kart 8!

Adults

West Elkton Library book sale

Add some more books to your collection at the West Elkton Library in February. The West Elkton Library’s book sale will be Monday, Feb. 6; Wednesday, Feb. 8; and Thursday, Feb. 9 during regular library hours (1-6 p.m.). All sales are by donation only. Take as much as you want and give what you can, as all proceeds go back to the West Elkton Library.

Eaton Library Creative Writers Group

Do you like to write? Join your fellow writers at the Eaton Library once a month for our Creative Writers Group. You don’t have to share, but you are certainly welcome to. We’ll provide writing activities and prompts for those who need a little extra inspiration. The next meeting of the Eaton Library Creative Writers Group is Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.

Coffee Mug Marbling

For the February Adult Craft, you’ll make custom coffee mugs with using nail polish and warm water to create a marbled effect. All supplies are provided.

Novel Discussion book club

We’ll discuss ‘The Lost City of Z’ by David Grann at the Eaton Library on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Gann tells the story of legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett, who launched his final expedition in 1925 into the depths of the Amazon in Brazil. His destination: the lost city of El Dorado, the ‘City of Gold,’ an ancient kingdom that had vanished. Fawcett and his group were never seen again.

Camden library book and bake sale

Get some great deals on books and baked goods at the Camden Library (104 S. Main St.) from Feb. 13-17. The book/bake sale runs during regular library hours (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12-8 p.m.; Tuesday from 2-8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.). All book sales are by donation only. Take as many as you like and give what you can. All proceeds help fund the Camden Library.

Eaton Library book sale

Check out the Eaton Library’s huge selection of fiction, nonfiction, young adult and children’s books at the February book sale. The sale will run from Saturday, Feb. 18 through Saturday, Feb. 25 during regular library hours (9a-8p, Mon-Thu and 9a-5p, Fri-Sat). Items have no set prices. Take what you want and donate as much money as you can. The funds raised go back to the Eaton Library.
