Opening Day: Preble Shawnee Youth Baseball will start its season off today April 29, with a parade starting at 10 a.m. on South Main Street, by the VFW and traveling north to Bloomfield and back to the ball diamonds off Laffayette. All teams will be introduced and will play a short exhibition game. There will be food and fun for all. Come support the young people of our community.

Dollars and Cents: Cost of a haircut in 1967 at Gratis Sesquicentennial was $3-$4 and 50 years later if you could get one, $11-$13.

Fire Training: Members of Camden Somers and Gasper Twp. Fire Departments held a mutual training at Eaton Fire Department Training Facility this past Wednesday over proper ventilation techniques and positive pressure smoke ejection.

Public Servants Day: Glory Road Worship Center 199 Highland Ave. in New Miami invites all Southern Preble County and Northern Butler County public service agencies to a special recognition service on Sunday May 7th at 10:30am. Union Twp.Fire Chaplin Arthur McFarland will speak and there will be dinner to follow.

Vendors Needed: Gratis Bicentennial Committee is still looking for street vendors, crafters, groups, flea market stands and food booths to set up at their celebration on June 10 and 11. Donations are also needed. If you are interested please call 937-787-3728.

Congratulations: Congratulations to Colton Williams of Preble Shawnee who was inducted into the Miami Valley Career Technology Center’s National Technical Honor Society recently. Colton chose to honor as his most significant educators Rob Klepinger and Ami Stevenson from Shawnee.

Hospital: Gladys Grimme of Gratis underwent open heart surgery this past Tuesday at Atrium Medical Center and as of this writing was doing well. Our Prayers are with her and the family.

Basement Sale: The Gratis United Methodist Church at Ohio 503 and 725 in Gratis will have a basement sale on Thursday May 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Food all day and carryout available.
