Kids and families

Game Nights

Play a variety of board and video games at the West Elkton Library on Wednesday, May 10 at 4 p.m.

There’ll also be video game nights at the West Manchester Library on Wednesday, May 10 at 4:30 p.m. and at the Eldorado Library on Thursday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m. Light snacks will be provided.

American Girl Tea Party

Bring your American Girl doll (or other doll) to the Eaton Library on Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. for our afternoon tea party! You’ll learn some new hairstyles, make a fun craft, and drink tea or lemonade with other kids who love the American Girl stories. Feel free to dress up!

Registration is required. Register at the Eaton Library at 301 N. Barron St. or call (937) 456-4331 by May 6. A limited number of dolls will be available if you don’t have one of your own.

After School Fun

Join us at the Camden Library for our monthly after school craft program on Tuesday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Homeschool Hour: Kitchen Chemistry

You can register for one of two Homeschool Hour sessions in May. We’ll learn the basics of kitchen chemistry with simple experiments based on easy-to-find chemicals and cooking supplies that can be recreated at home.

Homeschool Hour will be Wednesday, May 17 at 3 p.m. at the Eaton Library with the program repeated on Wednesday, May 24 at 3 p.m. Make sure to sign up in advance to reserve your space.

Teens

Teen Gaming

We’ll play from an assortment of board games and video games at this program for teens in grades 6-12. The games we play depend on attendance, so make sure to bring your friends! Catch the gaming program at Eaton Library on Tuesday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m.

Teens Write!

Teens in grades 6-12: Have you ever been interested in writing? Get some practice at the West Elkton Library on Wednesday, May 17 at 4 p.m.

Teen Flash Film Fest

The Eaton Library will have a two-part filmmaking program for teens in grades 6-12. Come to the library on Tuesday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m. each day to create a short film. Equipment and a variety of materials will be provided as you race against the clock to create a short cinematic masterpiece.

Adults

Adult Crafts

Library branches have various crafts for adults in May:

Flower Pot Painting at the West Manchester and Eldorado libraries. We’ll decorate a clay flower pot for your inside or outside décor and provide a plant for your new pot! Join us at the West Manchester Library on Wednesday, May 24 or the Eldorado Library on Thursday, May 25. Craft starts at 4 p.m. each day.

Bring a white t-shirt to the West Elkton Library on Thursday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m. to make a tie-dye shirt with Sharpie pens.

New Paris Book Sale

The New Paris Library’s next book sale is scheduled for May 12-19. Get to the library early for the best selection of fiction, nonfiction, adult, teen, and children’s books. The book sale will be held during regular library hours, and all sales are by donation only.

Mental Health Month at the Library

May is National Mental Health Month. The Eaton Library will host staff members of the Cherry Street Clubhouse and the Preble County Mental Health and Recovery Board for a discussion of mental health issues and services in the community. Join us Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at the Eaton Library.

Resume Writing and Job Searching

Learn the ins and outs of creating a resume and filling out online job applications. There are no prerequisites for the class, but a valid personal email address is preferred. Call 937-456-5562 or visit the Eaton Library to register for this class on Saturday, May 27 at 1 p.m.

Eaton Library Creative Writers Group

Do you like to write? Join your fellow writers at the Eaton Library once a month for our Creative Writers Group. You don’t have to share, but you are certainly welcome to. We’ll provide writing activities and prompts for those who need a little extra inspiration. The next meeting of the Eaton Library Creative Writers Group is Thursday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m.
