Car Show: The Gratis Bicentennial Committee will have a car and motorcycle show as part of the festival on Saturday, May 10, from 1-4 p.m. $10 entry fee/$15 day of event. Trophies will be awarded. Call 937-787-3728 for info.

Memorial Day: Gratis has announced Memorial Day parade and services will be held Sunday, May 28, with line up starting at 1 p.m. in front of the post office and parade will follow at 1:30 p.m. Grand marshal will be former Gratis Fire Chief and Lions Club Member Daryl Hollenbaugh. All civic organizations, floats, kids on bikes, young and old welcome.

Rain, rain, go away: We want to have opening day! Preble Shawnee Youth Baseball will again try to have opening day parade and festivities on Saturday May 21, with the parade starting at 1 p.m. at the VFW on South Main St.

Library news: Bring a tee shirt to the West Elkton Library on Thursday, May 25, at 4:30 p.m. to make a tie-dye shirt with Sharpies.

Community Garage Sales: Lake Lakengren will hold community garage sales on May 18-20.

WWI Centennial Commemoration: The Preble County Historical Society will WWI celebration on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m.-5p.m. with a ceremony at 1 p.m. to commemorate those Preble County veterans who served in the war. For more info call 937-787-4256. The Historical Society is located at 7693 Swartzel Rd. just west of Gratis.

Rummage sale: Preble Shawnee Pee Wee Arrows will have their first sale on Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Camden Primary cafeteria. Come out and help the girls purchase new music for half-time. Donations accepted and can be dropped off on May 19, 6-7 p.m., in the cafeteria.
