BBQ Chicken and Pork Chops

The WA Celebration Committee is sponsoring their semi-annual BBQ Dinners on Sunday, May 21. Half chicken dinner costs $7 and a 3/4lb. Pork Chop Dinner costs $8, prepared by Hog Wold Smokehouse Ribs. Pick up dinners beside Subway on N. Main St. between 11a.m. and 1p.m.. Order dinners by May 17 to ensure your dinner. Mail orders to: Celebration Committee c/o Michelle Laughlin, 41 W. Second St. W. WAFD/EMS

Every Thursday evening doors open at 5 p.m. and BINGO calling starts at 6 p.m. at 25 E. Dayton Street. Come early, get a good seat and start your luck with some pull-offs! All proceeds benefit the West Alexandria Firefighters Association and Department.

Farmer’s Market

Beginning May 25, come and support the WA Celebration Committee’s weekly Farmers’ Market every Thursday from 5-8 p.m., through the end of August. We showcase local food and produce vendors, local entertainment and independent consultants, including but not limited to Avon and Tupperware, and many local crafters who offer incredible deals! Space still available if you wish to be a vendor. We offer live music, hot food, cold beverages, free parking and have public restrooms. Community Cookbooks are available at the Farmer’s Market and the Pin Up Shoppe at 50 W. Second Street. These hard-bound, three-ring cookbooks lie flat, while open, for your convenience and contain 600 recipes submitted by our residents! These make great gifts! Money raised is used by the Celebration Committee to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa. West Alexandria Community Garage Sales will run June 5-7. No permits are needed during this period.

WA/TVS Alumni Banquet

Saturday, June 3, the West Alexandria and Twin Valley South Alumni will have met for 129 years! Doors will open at 4:15 p.m. at the Twin Valley South High School. Social Gathering is from 4:30-6 p.m. The Banquet and Program begin at 6 p.m. and tickets are $16. All ticket reservations are due by May 29. Tickets are available at Roselius Insurance Agency, Twin Valley Bank, LCNB and the Pin-Up Shoppe in town. Salem Lutheran Church

Congratulations to our graduates, Mackenzie Turpin of Eaton High School, and Ava Watts of Twin Valley South High School. Sunday, May 21 we will celebrate the Confirmation of Allison Bassler, Kailee Burkett, Liberty Chesney, Taylor Clark, Wyatt House and Hannah Mershon.

An All Saints Walk will take place, beginning at 5p.m. in the church parking lot, Sunday, May 28. We should return by 7p.m. We will walk to different cemeteries and return for a Cook-out afterwards.

Social Outings of Salem, S.O.S., is hosting a Progressive Dinner, May 20 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Middle School Ministry meets Sunday evenings from 7-8:15 p.m. in the Church Lounge for any Middle School-aged students!

Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will meet Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 a.m. for Breakfast, Bible Study and Fellowship.

Don’t forget your unused coupons to be sent to our troops overseas! Commissaries honor coupons up to two months expired. Collection basket is in the church library.

St. John Church

St. John Church is accepting empty pill bottles without labels for Matthew 25 Mission Projects, and accepting clean, used shoes for Well of Hope.

We will supply a meal to the Homeless Shelter on June 1.
