SOUTHERN PREBLE COUNTY — Well, Gratis kicked off its Bicentennial Celebration this past week in grand fashion with a large parade followed by a weekend full of memorable activities, highlighted by the opening of the 1967 Sesquicentennial time capsule. The contents of the capsule will be on display for a month at the Gratis Library, including the letter written by Grace Coleman. We think it is very important to point out that the committee did a fantastic job and the community rallied around them to make this a memorable event. The time capsule will be left open until September, according to the Mayor, so things throughout the year can be added.

Trivia Answers: Bill Highley was the barber in the 70s in Gratis and Dr. Doty was the doctor in Camden in the 70s.

This Week’s Trivia: How much was round steak per pound in 1967-1968?

Father’s Day: We would like to wish our Fathers who have passed on and all those Fathers out there who have passed or are still with us a very happy day and remember we have a Heavenly Father who watches over us everyday and loves us as his children.

Football Camp: The Preble Shawnee Wee Arrow Football Camp with NFL’s Jimmy Verdon is June 22-24, starting at 10 a.m. at Hannon’s Camp America for students in K-8, from any school.
