New Eatery: Camden and surrounding areas can enjoy a new restaurant in Camden. 4Js Pizza on Central Ave. has expanded and now has a full line restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a nice sit down area. Stop by a try of the new menu items.

Bad Weather: Area fire departments were kept busy this last Friday and again Tuesday handling calls after storms blew through and caused damages to trees, vehicles and homes. A West Elkton home was heavily damaged when a tree feel on it causing firefighters to respond and assist the resident. Camden Fire Department respond to 12 calls in thier area on Friday and another several on Tuesday to assist with high water and trees. Hueston Woods campers were stuck in campers after awnings blew down and made it impossible to get out without assistance from Camden Fire Chief Gary Taylor, who camps there.

Marriage: Devin Haber and Courtney Wright were married on July 8. Congratulations!

VBS: Christ Commission Temple on North Main Street in Camden will hold Vacation Bible School July 17th -21st from 5:30-8:30 p.m. If attending, you are ask to RSVP at 937-452-6006.

Gratis Council of Churches will also have Vacation Bible School the same week from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at First Brethren Church.

Camp: The 2nd Annual Wee Arrows High School Football Camp will be held on July 22-23 at Preble Shawnee. Grades K-3 9-11 a.m. both days, 4th -6th, 1-3 p.m. each day. Open to all flag or tackle players and athletes get a T-Shirt. This is a “free” camp.

Trivia: Woodrow Essig was Gratis’ Sesqucentinial Mayor and John Matt was Camden’s.

Here Fishy Fishy: Preble Shawnee Band’s Annual Fish Fry will be Saturday, July 22, 5 p.m. at Gratis Eagles. Cost is $8 and benefits our Marching Arrows.

Preble Shawnee Soccer Camp: Preble Shawnee boys and girls in grades 3-8 are invited to Preble Shawnee’s Youth Camp July17 -20th 6-8 p.m. nightly at the high school practice field. Please bring cleats, shin guards and water bottle. Cost is $30 which includes t-shirt. Camp is being hosted by Preble Shawnee High School coaches and players.
