Christmas in the Village Tour

The West Alexandria Annual Christmas in the Village Tour will take place Sunday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m.. A parade will escort Santa through the village to Santa Villa in Peace Park from 5-7 p.m. Local participating businesses will be open for you to visit and complete your punch card. Pick up your punch card at the WA Library, visit all the businesses listed and you can be entered for our grand prize. Punch cards are for adults only. Be sure to sign up for door prizes at the Library. Door prizes will be drawn at 7p.m. at the Library and there will also be three age groups to enter for door prizes: 12 and under, 13-17 yrs and 18 and up.

Santa Villa

December 2, 3, and 10, from 5-7 p.m. Santa will be arriving at Santa Villa at Peace Park, 70 E. Dayton Street, to present each child who visits with a gift, gloves and a candy cane. Feel free to bring your camera to capture this moment with your child!

Christmas in the Village Craft Bazaar

Same great event. New location and date! The annual Christmas in the Village Craft Bazaar will be held at the Twin Valley South Elementary on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Santa will be stopping by from 2-4 p.m. to visit with your children! There will be door prizes, food, crafts, crafts and more crafts galore! Help support local crafters this holiday season by buying your holiday needs from them. If you are interested in being a vendor, spaces will be on a first come, first serve basis. We will allow only one of each company at the event (Tupperware, Avon, LuLaRoe, etc.) Contact Mayor Carol Lunsford at 839-4085 or Michele Laughlin on Facebook at West Alexandria Celebration Committee. Funds raised by the Celebration Committee will go to buy new toys and repairs for Santa Villa, and fireworks for July 4.

American Legion Post 322

Euchre is open to the public every Wednesday at 6 p.m. $5 entry fee, 50/50 raffle and Ladies Night.

Rock the Jukebox on Friday, Nov. 17 from 8 p.m. until midnight.

The Senior Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m.

A Giving Thanks Carry-in Dinner will be held at the Legion with meat provided, on Monday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

The Children’s Christmas Party will be held Friday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. for children 13 and under. Sign-up in the Canteen at James E. Ryan, Post 322, 1477 Ohio 503 S.

AKS

Alpha Kappa Sorority will celebrate their annual Christmas Dinner Monday, Dec. 4, at Buckeye Jake’s. AKS will celebrate by sharing a meal, ornament exchange, Secret Sister Exchange, and will fill a Pink Basket and send a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. AKS is having their annual fresh nuts sale as well; excellent for holiday baking. Contact Wendy Chesney at 937-336-2027 for more details.

BINGO

The West Alexandria Fire Dept. BINGO is held every Thursday with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and BINGO beginning at 6:30 p.m. Early Bird Games start at 6:30 p.m. to help out those coming after work to have a little extra time. Kid-friendly atmosphere, but all players must be 18 or over, at 25 E. Dayton Street.

Turkey Shoot, TVRGC

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Turkey Shoot at 1p.m. each Sunday through the end of November. The public is welcome, and there is a lunch stand in the Clubhouse. Contact H.K. Steiner at 232-4504, Curtis Early at 533-3226 or Paul Price at 248-1083.

Foodbank

Volunteers at the West Alex Foodbank are coordinating another busy holiday season providing a blessed Christmas for families. The foodbank will provide a holiday basket for families who qualify and live in the Twin Valley School District. This includes food and gifts for the children. This holiday season we invite everyone to learn more about the foodbank ministry and become a partnership with us in sharing the spirit of giving. You may do this by adopting a family, providing an item for the food baskets, or monetary gift. For additional information, please call the foodbank at 839-1615. The Foodbank is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at St. John Lutheran, Ingomar and Salem Lutheran Church on the first Sunday of each month. Items needed are tuna, egg noodles, spaghetti and sauce, pancake mix and syrup. Also needed are gently used coats and blankets.

Salem Lutheran Church

The Haiti Mission Team is holding a Spaghetti Supper at Salem Lutheran Church in the Fellowship Hall, Saturday, Nov. 18 from 4-7 p.m. to raise funds for their mission trip to Haiti in the Spring.

The Children’s Christmas Program will be presented during the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Jr. Lutherans, for children ages 3 and in Preschool through sixth grade, meet every Wednesday with a meal at 6 p.m. and program at 6:30 p.m.

Adult Bible study meets each Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m. during Jr. Lutherans.

Men’s Bible Study and Breakfast meets every third Saturday at 7:30 a.m., meeting this month on Nov. 18 in the Fellowship Hall.

We provide a meal for the Homeless Shelter in Eaton the fourth Monday of each month, which will be Nov. 27.
