TVRGC Turkey Shoot

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club Turkey Shoot is 1p.m. each Sunday through the end of November. The public is welcome, and there is a lunch stand in the Clubhouse.

TVRGC Hunt

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Youth Pheasant Hunt at Ulrich’s Hunting Preserve Saturday, Oct.17, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. A complimentary lunch will be at noon for both sessions. Open to youth 12-17 years of age who have completed a Hunter Education Course. Proof of certification is required. Hunt is free but limited to 20 participants with two rooster pheasants per hunter.

AKS 75 Year Anniversary Fall Flower Sale

Alpha Kappa Sorority is approaching its 75 year anniversary of service to the West Alex and surrounding communities.

We are thrilled to be offering a Fall flower sale this year to help support our philanthropic endeavors in the community this year! Please contact an AKS member to order your fall mums, asters, etc. to decorate for the coming season, or contact Wendy Chesney at [email protected].

We appreciate all your continued support and are looking forward to making this seventy-fifth year of community service one that will plant a seed of giving that surpasses anything we have done before!

Some of the activities and organizations we regularly support via gifts of service, clothing, food, money, etc. include:

TVS — two scholarships to graduating Seniors, the West Alex Fire Dept. the West Alex EMS, the West Alex WABO, the West Alex Food Bank, Individual families/students of TVS in need, the West Alex Library, the West Alex Senior Citizen Dinner, the West Alex Senior Citizen Bingo and the TVS Community Picnic.

Beggars’ Night

West Alexandria Trick or Treat will be Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6- 7:30 p.m. There will be a costume parade starting at the LCNB bank, 55 E. Dayton Street, at 5:15 p.m.. A costume contest, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club will begin at 5:30 p.m. across from the Town Hall. There are prizes for children twelve and under, divided into three age groups and three categories.

WAFD BINGO

It’s official and it’s back… BINGO at the West Alexandria Fire Dept. Starting Oct. 15, we will officially kick off BINGO nights with more dates to follow soon. Doors open at 5p.m., BINGO calling starts at 6 p.m.. Come early, get a good seat and start your luck with some pull-offs. All proceeds benefit the West Alexandria Firefighters Association and Department.

Foodbank

Items needed are spaghetti sauce, chicken noodle and tomato soup, pork & beans, ramen noodles, shampoo and toothpaste. The Foodbank is open from 10 a.m.-noon on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches on the first Sunday of each month.
