Homeschool Hour: Electricity
Join us as we learn about electricity in this hands-on program! Homeschool Hour is geared to students ages 8-12 but is open to all homeschool students and their educators. January’s Homeschool Hour will be Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Library Administrative Office Meeting Room at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.
Eaton Library book sale
The next book sale at the Eaton Library is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 20. Get there early for the best selection of fiction, nonfiction, young adult, and children’s books. The sale is during regular library hours (Monday-Thursday, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) at 301 N. Barron St. Prices are not set for items. All sales are by donation only. Grab what you want and give as much as you can, as all proceeds go to the Eaton Branch Library.
Eaton Valentine Make & Take
Children ages 12 and under can make their own Valentines for family or friends at the Eaton Library. On Saturday, Feb. 6 from 1-2 p.m., the library will provide all the materials to make fun Valentines!
Registration for Spring Storytimes
Beginning Feb. 1, you can sign up for the spring sessions of storytime at the Eaton Branch Library. Spring sessions will run from March 2 through April 7. Multiple sessions will be available for varying age groups from six months to 12 years old. You can sign up in person at the Eaton Library or by calling 937-456-4331.
Robot Hand craft (ages 8-12)
The February tween craft will teach you how to turn some card stock, straws, and string into a working robotic hand! You can make your own robot hand at the following locations:

Storytime sessions
Library storytimes are a great way to give your child a jump-start on reading. The following libraries are having storytimes for children 11 and under:

New Paris Valentine Drop-In
Get ready for Valentine’s Day at the New Paris Library. On Friday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., stop in to make a card for your Valentine! All supplies will be provided by the library.
Teens (grades 6-12):
Teen Creative Writing Group
Local teens can spur their creative juices at the Teen “Write On!” writing club. We’ll have creative writing prompts, snacks, and you can talk with other teens about writing. You can share aloud, but you don’t have to.

Tabletop Games

Teen Advisory Board

Splatoon: Turf War Tournament
Play other Splatoon players from around the world in the Turf War Arena at the Eaton Library on Friday, Feb. 12 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. The local teen with the highest number of Battle Points will win a squid hat. Novel Discussion Book Club
Join us at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library for our monthly book discussion. This month, we’ll meet Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews. The Novel Discussion book club meets the third Thursday of every month.
Adult Crafting: Perpetual Calendar
It’s a new year, and you’ll need a new calendar. During January, you can make the last calendar you’ll ever need at the Preble County District Library branches. We’ll be using nuts and bolts to make a perpetual calendar. All supplies are provided. Make your calendar at:

Be a kid again
Why should the kids get to have all the fun? The year, the West Alexandria Library will present a few programs to remind adults of their childhood. The first one is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m., and we’ll be coloring some adult coloring books. We’ll have crayons, markers, and colored pencils for an hour of coloring.
