PCDP plans programs for 2016

LEWISBURG — The Preble County Park District would like to invite you to our programs and events for 2016. Educational programming is best suited for elementary aged children, but we accept all ages.

Other programs are for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All events are free with donations welcomed and will be held at the Garber Nature Center located at 9691 Ohio 503 N., Lewisburg. Meet at the Mary Hayes Pavilion. Children’s Programs

What is Springing? Saturday, March 19, 1-3 p.m. Learn some unique signs of spring.

Zoom in for Earthday! Saturday, April 23, 1-3 p.m. Join us with Beth Wright from Preble County Solid Waste District to learn about recycling in Preble County and make a toy car.

Seed, Seeds, Wonderful Seeds! Saturday, May 21, 1-3 p.m. Learn about plants and seeds with games and crafts.

Weaving Wonders Wednesday, July 20, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Do you know what animals weave?

Reading in the Creek, OH MY! Saturday, Aug. 13, 1-3 p.m. “Splash” into reading with us as we sneak our feet into the creek. Wear old shoes!

What Can You Do with Straw? Saturday, Oct. 8, 1-3 p.m. Bring some old clothes and a hat to make your own scarecrow and play some games with straw. Enjoy the fall!

Leaf Kabobs, What’s That? Saturday Nov. 5, 1-3 p.m. Featuring the book ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert we will learn about leaves through reading and crafts.

Family Events

Bugging Along with Dr. Insecta Saturday, June 4, 7-9 p.m. Come and see the most Exciting Entomologist Ever Enthralling Everyone across the U.S. with his special Bug Buddies! This program includes live insects and is for all ages.

Music Makers on a Summer Night Saturday, June 18, 7-9 p.m. An excellent concert by Eric Loy, guitarist and Earl Pittman, vocalist. Bring a lawn chair and join us.

Rum River Blend Concert Saturday, July 16, 7-9 p.m. An evening of foot tappin’ bluegrass, country, folk and gospel music. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy!

Solar Happenings with Terry Mann Saturday, Sept. 10, 1-3 p.m. Well known local Astronomer, Terry Mann, will bring her Solar Telescope for us to look at the Sun.
