Library releases new mobile app

EATON — There’s a new way to manage your Preble County District Library account with your mobile phone and/or tablet. The app is “PCDL2GO,” and it’s available in both the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users.

Within the app, readers can search the library’s catalog for books, movies, and music. Log in to your account with your library card number and PIN, and you’ll be able to place holds, cancel holds, and see items you already have checked out and due dates. You can also download eBooks and audiobooks with your library card through the PCDL2GO app.

The app also gives readers access to some of the library’s online databases, including Salem Press’s collection of history, science, health, and literature resources; the Gale Virtual Reference Library; and online auto repair manuals with Chilton Library.

Readers will also find a calendar of library events and a list of locations and hours. One of the app’s best features is BookLook, which lets one use their device’s camera to scan a book’s UPC, see if it’s available at the library, and place a hold right from their phone.

With PCDL2GO, readers can access the Preble County District Library anywhere they have a cell phone signal. Download it by searching “PCDL2GO” in the Google Play or Apple App stores.
