Free ‘Thank You’ Breakfast — The West Alexandria Fire and EMS would like to welcome the Village of West Alexandria residents to have breakfast on them at the West Alexandria Fire Department, Saturday, April 2, from 8-11 a.m. at 25 E. Dayton Street. We want to show you how much we appreciate your support by the passing the levy to build a new fire/ems station and your continued support over the years. Doors are open to everyone; please come celebrate with us!

BINGO — Thursday evening doors open at 5 p.m. and BINGO calling starts at 6 p.m. at 25 E. Dayton Street. Come early, get a good seat and start your luck with some pull offs! All proceeds benefit the West Alexandria Firefighters Association and Department.

American Legion

The next Fish Fry will be held Saturday, April 16, from 5-7 p.m. at James E. Ryan Post 322, 1477 Ohio 503 South.

Euchre night is Ladies Night every Wednesday at 7 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee, prizes, a 50/50 raffle and it is open to the public.

Enjoy Old-time Country and Western music every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. with the Senior Fun Bunch. This is open to the public and includes coffee and snacks with no cover charge.

Get your foursome together and sign up for our SAL Golf Tourney, coming up on Sunday, May 15.

Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt Winners

The Kiwanis Club held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26, at the WABO park. Prize egg winners for each age group included: walking to three years — Jake DeVilbiss, Kylie Spence and Sophia Spurlock; 4-7 years of age — Gabby Spurlock, Joseph Gallaher and Dana Devilbiss, and 8-12 years of age — Lucy Keener, Cyrus Worley and Gracie Straszheim. The Coterie Club Easter Basket raffle winners were Vonetta Jenkins and Wyatt Fitzwater.

AKS Euchre Tourney, Dance

Alpha Kappa Sorority is having their annual Euchre Tournament and Dance on Saturday, April 23, at 5 p.m. at the American Legion, 1477 Ohio 503 S. Euchre is $15 a person which includes cards, dance, snacks, pop and water. Spots fill up fast so please let a member know if you want to play. The dance will start at 8 p.m. and pre-sale admission is $8 a person or $10 at the door. DJ Nikki Plank will be playing again. There will be lots of door prizes and raffle items!! We will have a shot bar or BYOB.

Kiwanis Chicken BBQ

Kiwanis Chicken BBQ will be held on April 24 at the WA Fire House, 25 E. Dayton Street. Proceeds help fund the many community projects of the club including the annual scholarship for a qualifying Senior at Twin Valley South High School.

Kiwanis Club

2015 Oktoberfest Queen Hayley Flory and Builder’s Club members were honored guests of the Kiwanis Club on March 22. Queen Hayley and club members helped stuff Easter Eggs for the Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt which was held March 26. Kiwanis Club meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month and welcomes new members. Contact Carol Lunsford for more information by calling 937-839-4085.

Senior Citizen Dinner

Twin Valley South High School, with financial support of four local service organizations, will be sponsoring a senior citizen dinner on Tuesday, April 26 at 5:30 p.m. The dinner is free to all senior citizens in the Twin Valley Community Local School District. Reservations may be made by calling the school office at 839-4693 or 839-4688. The deadline for reservations is Monday, April 25. Entertainment will be provided following the dinner. The service groups making the dinner possible are the Alpha Kappa Sorority, Coterie Club, West Alex Lions Club and West Alex Kiwanis Club.

Rod and Gun Club

The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club is, again, sponsoring its annual Turkey Shoot each Sunday, at 1 p.m. t through April 26. This event is open to the public and we hope to see a nice crowd.

TVS kindergarten registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2016/17 school year will be held at TVS Elementary on Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., daily, and April 5 from 6-8 p.m.. Please bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization records and two proofs of residence which are required in order to register. Please report to the Elementary office, located on 100 Education Drive, Door#26.

Foodbank

Needs are chicken noodle soup, shampoo, toothpaste, and bar soap. The Foodbank is open from 10a.m. to 12p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches the first Sunday of each month.

Church of the Brethren

Our next Free Community Meal is Wednesday, April 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 22 East Oak St. West Alexandria

Youth in grades 5-8 are invited to join us every other Sunday for our Youth Ministry Nights from 6-7:15 p.m.

Salem Lutheran Church

Jr. Lutherans put together 43 Easter Baskets for the W. Alex Foodbank on March 9, thanks to all who contributed donations.

LYO is sponsoring a Chili Cook-off Fundraiser April 10, in the Fellowship Hall, immediately following Sunday worship.

New Eyes For the Needy — SWELCA is collecting used eye glasses to be donated to the local Lions Club. A donation box is located in the church Library.

Coups for Troops needs your unwanted or recently expired coupons which can be used in Military Commissaries overseas up to two months past the expiration date. Place in the basket located in the church Library.

St. John Lutheran Church, Ingomar

The Spring Gathering for all women will be held Saturday, April 2 from 1-4p.m. at St. John Lutheran, 2319 Enterprise Rd.

Starting April 3, Sunday Worship will begin at 9a.m. with Sunday School immediately following.
