Walk for MS

A Multiple Sclerosis Walk will take place on Saturday, May 14, in the Salem Lutheran Church parking lot at 70 East Dayton Street in West Alexandria. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the walk at 10a.m. A musical concert featuring Kelly Crank, Charles McNew and Codie Prevoist will begin after the walk. Lanier Alumni Banquet

The Lanier Alumni Banquet will be held at the Twin Valley South High School Commons, 100 Education Drive, on Saturday, June 11 with Social Hour at 4:30 p.m. and Dinner at 6 p.m. Cost of the meal is $20 per person and anyone that attended Lanier is invited. WA/TVS Alumni Banquet

Saturday, June 4, the West Alexandria and Twin Valley South Alumni will have met for 128 years! Doors will open at 4:15 p.m. at the Twin Valley South High School. Social Gathering is from 4:30-6 p.m. The Banquet and Program begin at 6 p.m. and tickets are $16. Tickets are available at Roselius Insurance Agency, Twin Valley Bank, LCNB and the Pin-Up Shoppe in town. Farmer’s Market

Beginning May 5, come and support the WA Celebration Committee’s weekly Farmers’ Market every Thursday from 5-8 p.m., from May through the end of August. We showcase local food and produce vendors, local entertainment and independent consultants, including but not limited to Avon and Tupperware, and many local crafters who offer incredible deals! Space still available if you wish to be a vendor. We offer live music, hot food, cold beverages, free parking and have public restrooms. Community Cookbooks are available at the Farmer’s Market and the Pin Up Shoppe at 50 W. Second Street. These hard-bound, three-ring cookbooks lie flat, while open, for your convenience and contain 600 recipes submitted by our residents! Money raised is used by the Celebration Committee to provide the community with fireworks for July 4, and new toys for Santa Villa. FFA Plant Sale and Scholarships

TVS Annual FFA plant sale has begun! Flats, hanging baskets and mixed pots of beautiful flowers are available for purchase now until we’re sold out. Contact any FFA member for information or call 839-4336. We’re also open during school hours and by special appointment. FFA members have $25,000 in scholarships to award! Applications are due May 13. Open to all Ohio FFA members planning to major in an agriculturally related area of study. Foodbank

Needs are spaghetti sauce, pancake mix, shampoo, toothpaste and bar soap. The Foodbank is open from 10a.m. to 12p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and is located at St. John Church, 20 E. South Street. Contact the Foodbank at 839-1615 for additional information. Non-perishable donations can also be dropped off at Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches the first Sunday of each month.

Church of the Brethren

The next Free Community Meal will be Wednesday, May 4 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 22 E. Oak Street. Free Community Meals are held the first Wednesday of each month.

St. John Church

The Mother Daughter Banquet is Friday, May 6 at 6:30p.m. This year the menu consists of your choice between ham loaf or swedish meatballs, side dishes, and desserts. Also the entertainment this year is very exciting! Maggie McCollum-Reckers will be presenting her art ministry where she creates large scale paintings on cardboard to music. Salem Lutheran Church

Miss Kathryn Kayann Crowe will be confirmed during Worship on Pentecost Sunday, May 15. A light reception celebration will be held immediately following the Worship service in the Fellowship Hall.

Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study invites men, young and old, to attend the third Saturday of each month in the Fellowship Hall at 7:30 a.m. for Breakfast, Bible study, fellowship and prayer. For more information, call the church office phone at 839-4210.

New Eyes For the Needy — Salem Women of the Church are collecting used eye glasses to be donated to the local Lions Club. A donation box is located in the church Library. The Women of the Church are compiling a 200-year Church Anniversary cookbook, and would like your tried and true, old or new recipes! Contact Polly Voge at 839-4721 or Clara Wienhoff at 715-2200 or get recipe forms in the church library.

Coups for Troops needs your unwanted or recently expired coupons which can be used in Military Commissaries overseas up to two months past the expiration date. Place in the basket located in the church library.
