Music students earn recognition

EATON — Patricia Brooks presented 15 piano students and two flute students in two recitals in May.

The students performed one duet and two solo songs each. Those performing included: Owen Baumann, Eddie Gibbs, Taylor Maddox, Amalinda Nelson, Gabrielle Petry, Allie Plaugher, Michaela Prescott, Brandon Pugh, Chloe Richardson, Caleb Risner, Anya Wappenstein, Liam Wappenstein, Luke Weisgerber, Ashton Weatherly and Ana White. Rebecca Cail and Taylor Maddox were the flutists at the recitals.

For the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, Chloe Richardson had five years of consecutive superiors for her performances on the piano at the Jr. Festival and played at an Honors Recital at the state conference.

Students receive gold cups for their participation at the Jr. Festival held at Miami University sponsored by the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs. Those receiving 15-point cups were Gabrielle Petry and Anya Wappenstein for piano solo. Chloe Richardson received a 15-point cup for a piano concerto and Rebecca Cail received a 15-point cup for combined flute solo and flute concerto. Thirty-point cups were earned by Owen Baumann, Brandon Pugh and Chloe Richardson for piano solo.

Rebecca Cail will be a freshman as a flute performance major at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana this fall. She performed for a scholarship given by the Dayton Music Club. She was also the winner of the Buckeye Auditions sponsored by the Western District of the Ohio Music Teachers Association. At the state level she won again. Each compeition provided a monetary reward for her performance.
