WWI commemoration planned

EATON — The Preble County Historical Society has planned a WWI Centennial Commemoration for Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ceremony will be at 1 p.m. at the Amphitheater Preble County Historical Society, 7693 Swartsel Rd Eaton. Admission is free.

Re-enactors will be present and all of our buildings, including the Exhibit Hall, Bank Barn and 1813 Log House will be open to the public. A WWI exhibit will be on display in the Sayler-Swartsel House. A number of artifacts are on loan from The Miami Valley Military History Museum.

At 1 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the PCHS Amphitheater to commemorate Preble County veterans who served in the war. American Legion Post 322 and Scout Troop 107 from West Alexandria will be present to help with flag folding, flag burning and Honor Guard ceremony.
