EATON — The Preble County Commissioners’ meeting on Wednesday, May 10, opened with a public hearing pertaining to an FY17 Community Development Block Grant for the Village of New Paris’ Cherry Street Revitalization project. The village had prepared a letter of interest and was requesting it be sent to the state.

After the county sends the letter, the village might be selected to submit a full application. The letter is due in June and the county plans to send it soon.

The project will be Phase II on New Paris’ Cherry St. Revitalization project, with Phase I already funded.

Under financial considerations, commissioners accepted two court entries from Judge Jenifer Overmyer regarding check issuance to Brad Kelley for TASC $960 and SAFE $600.

They also approved Resolution 324-17-179 entitled Moral Obligation regarding building maintenance. They approved a payment for Carter Cleaning for $17.82.

Commissioners received a letter from the Preble County Engineer regarding seasonal/intermittent employment of Parker Wilken Engineer. His employment is effective May 8 and is at an hourly rate of $10. His compensation will be taken from the Road and Bridge payroll.

The board approved amendment number three to the third landfill tract, an agricultural lease agreement with Kerrick Wilson. This will decrease acreage by 9.70 acres. The total rent for 2017 will be $9,879.60 and adjust the November payment to $3,797.60.

Commissioners then approved travel requests for Ronda Dittrick and Judge Overmyer.

Dittrick requested permission to attend the ICOTS Training meeting in Columbus on May 10, at no cost to the county.

Judge Overmyer requested permission to attend the 2017 annual summer conference on June 4-8 in Warren at a cost not to exceed $1,246.68.

Both were approved.
