EATON — An Eaton resident died last week after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a city street.

Lynette Dershem, 67, was struck by a gold Ford Ranger in the 100 block of Eaton-Lewisburg Road just after 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

Dershem was leaving The Eaton Place to pick up her laundry at the laundromat at Five Points Centre when she was struck by the southbound vehicle. She was pronounced dead upon the paramedics’ arrival.

The driver of the pick-up truck was a 49-year-old male. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but there were witnesses on the scene. Additional information was unavailable at press time on Monday.

No charges are currently pending against the driver. Speed, drugs and alcohol, are not believed to be a factor.

Dershem was a 1965 Eaton graduate and a retired registered nurse from Grandview Hospital. She routinely did her laundry and ate at The Eaton Place on Friday mornings.
