Auditor issues report

EATON — Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright released her monthly financial report on May 31.

According to Wright, during the month of April, the county’s general fund receipts totaled $898,477.46, 1.81 percent above the estimated receipts for the month.

Sales tax revenue for April totaled $446,023.33 from February sales, Wright reported. Local Government Funds totaled $26,370.37, charges for services were at $60,352.42, interest was at $14,267.23, fines and forfeitures were at $3,063.20, and other receipts were $29,123.81.

According to Wright, the 1-mill conveyance fee totaled $8,146 and the expenditures for the month were $22,000.

Expenditures

April general fund disbursements totaled $893,862.33, 4.30 percent above the estimate for the month, according to Wright. Salaries, PERS and Medicare disbursements were $427,533.91.Transfers for the month included: $31,055 to Dog and Kennel, $494 to TASC, $112,303 to Soil and Water, and $2,400 to Preble County Ag Society.

Department expenditures were $237,734.41, and included supplies ($39,104.07); equipment ($18,176.24); charges for services ($142,155.89); gasoline ($4,662.64); travel, advertising/printing and other expenses.

According to Wright, the general fund began 2017 with a balance of $4,781,385.73, and ended the month of April with $6,003,687.32.

General fund receipts were above what they were in 2016, 0.47 percent according to Wright. Expenditures for the month were 3.42 percent less than they were in 2016; salaries, PERS and Medicare were up 6.43 percent and department expenses were down 10.13 percent.
