OXFORD — The Oxford Community Arts Center announces a new summer concert series, Mostly Beethoven. This series of free concerts is devoted, mostly, to piano music of Ludwig van Beethoven. Chamber works by various other composers will be featured as well. The concerts are presented by Steinway Artist and Miami University professor Bruce Murray, who will be joined by gifted younger artists in the chamber works. Concerts are presented each Monday at 6 p.m., from June 26 through Aug. 7, followed by a reception. Seating is general admission and donations are accepted at the door.
Along with each performance, Murray will provide commentary on the composer’s work, discussing its most fascinating aspects, as well as its relevance to and lasting influence on today’s culture. Bruce Murray is a Professor in the Department of Music at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
