NT BOE accepts resignations and new hires

NEW PARIS — During a National Trail Board of Education meeting on Thursday, June 27, three new teachers were introduced, new Middle School Principal Mike Eyler provided an update, and a plan for a steel band trip was discussed.

The board also voted to enter into a contract between the Ohio School Boards Association and the National Trail Local School Board for Web Based Conversion Service in the amount of $1,550.

They accepted a contract with S3 Direct Insurance Services for Athletic Accident Insurance Coverage, effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2018. This coverage is underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company. The total premium is $4,750.

An amended graduation list was approved. According to Superintendent Jeff Parker, one student might have been removed, but several were added.

The board voted to approve the membership for the National Trail Middle School and National Trail High School in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, through June 30, 2018.

Following an executive session, the board voted to accept Elizabeth Ayers’ resignation as the seventh grade math teacher, effective at the conclusion of the current 2016-2017 school year. They also voted to accept Megan Weyer’s resignation as the sixth grade Language Arts teacher, effective at the conclusion of the current 2016-2017 contract year.

The board voted to accept two other resignations:

•The resignation of Jeff Schmidt as Teacher Aide, effective at the conclusion of the current 2016-2017 school year.

•The resignation of Kurt Bachman as 2017 summer custodian, effective immediately.

They voted to employ Roxanne Laird as Teacher Aide on a one-year limited contract.

They voted to employ the following classified personnel, on an as needed basis, as presented on a one year limited contract:

•Substitute Teacher Aide and Cook Sherry Holsapple.

•Substitute Teacher Aide, Cook, and Secretary Bridget Toms.

•Substitute Teacher Aide and Cook Kristin Wyatt.

In other business, the board:

•Approved the elementary school and middle school fee list for the 2017-2018 school year. The high school fee list has already been approved.

•Voted to renew membership to Southwestern Ohio Instructional Technology Association. The total membership fee for 2017-2018 is $835.20.

•Approved the high school handbook.

The National Trail Board of Education will meet next on Tuesday, July 25, in the National Trail Local Schools District Office.
