Crash claims one life

JACKSON TOWNSHIP — A Richmond, Indiana woman died as a result of a crash on U.S. 35, Wednesday, July 19.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash which occurred at approximately 12:42 p.m. Wednesday, near the intersection of Murray Road in Jackson Township.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2000 Peterbilt Semi traveling westbound on U.S. 35 was struck by a 2009 Honda SUV driven by the victim. According to Sheriff Mike Simpson, evidence at the scene and witness accounts indicate “the Honda went left of center at the time of the crash.”

Lisa O’Leary, 58, of Richmond Indiana, was the driver of the 2009 Honda. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Northwest EMS, Simpson reported.

U.S. 35 near the intersection of Murray Road remained closed for 5 ½ hours while deputies conducted their investigation.

Northwest EMS, Northwest Fire, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Commercial Inspections Unit responded to the scene.

The crash remained under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and Preble County Coroner’s Office at press time.
