Sheriff’s Office issues raises

EATON —The Preble County Sheriff’s Department is making adjustments to officer pay and one new hire.

The Preble County Commissioners received three letters from the sheriff during their meeting on Wednesday, July 26.

Commissioners received three letters from the Sheriff regarding the new hires and adjustments. The first was regarding 9-1-1 dispatcher Tom Smith, who is full-time as of Aug. 1. His rate of pay will be $19.61.

The next was regarding Deputy Sheriff Steve Bratton who has been at the sheriff’s office for 23 years. As of July 18, he will be making $23.35 an hour.

The last letter was regarding Sergeant Corrections Officer George Petitt, who has also been at the sheriff’s office for 23 years. As of July 18, he will be making $26.08 an hour.

Commissioners also approved the following financial considerations:

•Resolution 409 to authorize a payment to Veteran Services of $1,000, Barnes Funeral Home of $12,717.96, and Job and Family Services of $4,634.35.

•Resolution 410 to authorize expenditure Portable Concrete Barrier of $14,040 for the Landfill.

•Resolution 411, which is titled Moral Obligation Landfill.

•Resolution 412 to transfer funds to the 9-1-1 fund.

•Resolution 413 to authorize expenditure of $12,640 to the Engineer for guardrail materials.

Commissioners noted receipt of the following correspondence and reports:

•An executed permit from the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers regarding permit number LRH-2006-2454-GMR for unnamed tributaries to Seven MileCreek.

•A letter from Brad Kramer regarding land use management. This was a withdrawal of Zoning Case 1430 for Matthew T. Webster Et. Al.

Commissioners noted receipt of the following agreements and contracts:

•An executed agreement regarding CDBG Economic Development revolving loan fund administration agreement with the State of Ohio Development Services Agency.

•An agreement for fire alarm system maintenance agreement with SimplexGrinnell for Building Maintenance at a price of $8,756.48.

•An agreement for planned maintenance agreement with Buckeye Power Sales for the generator for Preble County EMA to cost $834.65.

•An executed amendment to FY16 CDBG Allocation and Critical Infrastructure Grant Scope of work and budget.

•An amendment to the year round youth program service agreement with Jobworks, Inc. to extend services an additional year at a cost of $110,385.

•An amendment to Child Placement agreement with New Beginnings in an increased amount of $34,000.

•An amendment to the Help Me Grow central coordination agreement with Preble County FCFC to extend services an additional month at a cost of $1,465.81.

•An amendment to the courthouse plaza design agreement with Maze Design, Inc. for additional electrical design at a cost of $4,500.

The Preble County Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Preble County Courthouse.
