Commissioners working on landfill notes

EATON — Preble County Commissioners approved a recent resolution consolidating two issued notes, totaling $3,670,000, for the landfill at their meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Before the resolution could pass, two others had to be approved.

The first which needed approval was Resolution 430, a note issuance of $1,000,000 to refinance notes issued for construction of a new landfill building and acquisition of a new scale.

The second that needed approval was Resolution 431, a note issuance of $2,670,000 to refinance notes issued for the purpose of financing the construction of landfill cell,s phases 2A and 2C.

Clerk Connie Crowell explained, “The first two are required, because we’re lumping them into the last one.”

“So we have to do these and then we roll them into the last resolution?” Commissioner Chris Day clarified.

“Exactly, as you know we have a payment that is due in partial, September of this year and then I don’t think we will have to borrow any more until 2019,” Crowell answered. “Depending on their schedule down at the landfill. Eventually our goal is to have it all rolled over into a bond, possibly a 10-year bond.”

After approving the first two resolutions, Commissioners were then able to approve Resolution 432 to consolidate the two note issues for the landfill bond.

In other business:

•There was a public hearing for three different zoning cases, all represented by Stephen Pope.

•Commissioners approved Resolution 437 to transfer funds to Job and Family Services.

Preble County Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Preble County Courthouse.
