WEST ALEXANDRIA — Construction on Twin Valley Community Elementary School, Middle School, and High School wings was set to be completed by Nov. 3.

During the TV Board of Education meeting on Monday, Oct. 23, Superintendent Bob Fischer presented his update on the ongoing construction to the building.

As of now, the construction is on schedule, but Fischer warned the weather might cause delays. However, he expected construction, including ribs, ice guards, and metal work, to be completed by Nov. 3. Construction at the time of the meeting was being done to the commons and high school gym, prior to moving to the auditorium, small gym, and then the flats when not able to work on the pitched roofs.

In other school news, Director of Food Service Megan Perry reported they have introduced several new menu and lunch items.

Director of Transportation and Maintenance Jeff Tully shared an update on new equipment installed.

“The FFA bought a new watering system for their greenhouse. We got that in last week. It is looking pretty nice in there now,” he said. “The Preschool is wanting to add a small playground attached to our playground, so we’re working on the details of that.”

Director of Technology Derrick Myers informed the board he had converted five year old HP laptops running Windows 7 to Chrome OS using Neverware CloudReady and will get additional years out of them. He also installed, moved, and replaced the commons’ wireless access points.

Twin Valley South’s Veterans Program will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m.

There will not be a November TVS Board of Education meeting, instead, the November and December meeting will be combined. This meeting is set for Monday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. in the Twin Valley Community Local School District Media Center.
