WEST ALEXANDRIA — Santa has officially come to West Alexandria’s Santa Villa, located at Peace Park.

In previous years, Santa was welcomed in a lighted parade, but this year the parade was canceled due to low participation. Still, Santa welcomed over 80 children on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3.

Every child who visits Santa receives a stuffed animal, a toy of their choice, a book, a candy cane, and a pair of gloves. If anyone is interested in helping with this wonderful cause the West Alexandria Celebration Committee does accept new gloves/mittens, new toys, new stuffed animals, books and activity books all year long.

Not only was Santa in town, but West Alexandria Celebration Committee also hosted the annual Tour of the Town, where participants visited local businesses to get marks on their punch cards and enter to win prizes.

Winners were:

•Tom Cook, who received a $50 Walmart Gift Card.

•Terri Cook, who received $30 cash donated by Somerville Bank.

•Beth Marsh, who received a $25 Visa gift card donated by Twin Valley Bank.

The next, and last, time Santa will be at Santa Villa will be on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 5-7 p.m. Santa will also be making an appearance at Christmas in the Village Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Twin Valley South Elementary School from 2-4 p.m. There, a decorated Christmas tree will be given away, along with other door prizes.

For more information about any of these or other activities sponsored by the West Alexandria Celebration Committee call Carol Lunsford at 839-4085.
