WEST ALEXANDRIA — On Nov. 15, eight of members of Twin Valley South MVCTC FFA Chapter competed in the District Five Food Science CDE at Versailles. This contest is designed for members who have an in-depth understanding of the food industry.

Each individual is required to complete multiple practicums including identifying aromas, Food sensory, Food Handling and Safety, Food Science equipment, math, and a team practicum where they create a new product.

The teams are constructed of four members, each individual’s points are added to the team’s score. We had two teams compete for our chapter. The team of Sydney Flory, Chyann Kendel, Kallen Pitz, and Lauren Todd placed 10th in the district. The team of Katilynn Crow, Preston Glander, Allie Hamilton, and Maddie Johnson also did very well.
