EATON — Dr. Barbara Curry attended her last Eaton Board of Education meeting on Monday, June 11. During this meeting, she congragulated new Superintendent Jeff Parker and was congratulated herself by Board President Lisa Noble.
“I would like to officially welcome Jeff Parker as the next superintendent,” Curry said. “Jeff and I worked together in our younger years and he was principal of my boys. It always amazed me how child-centered he is as a principal and I know he carries that trait also to superintendent.
“It feels very good to pass the torch to Jeff. It feels very good to be home, so congratulations on coming home.”
Next, Noble addressed Curry’s retirement.
“I would like to congratulate Dr. Curry with her retirement with 36 years in education. That is an awesome number. She served 19 years at Eaton, serving as principal, director of education, assistant superintendent, and superintendent for the past five years,” Noble said.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank you very much for your tremendous dedication to our school district and for your leadership.”
Parker began as a consultant on June 11, a term which ends on July 31. Starting in August, Parker will be the official ECS Superintendent.
In other news, the board approved a resolution for student assessment and academic intervention services and accepted a donation from JBC Prime Fitness, DBA Anytime Fitness, to the Bruce Elementary Principal Fund.
Eaton Board of Education will meet for their July meeting on Friday, July 6, at 3 p.m. at Hollingsworth East Elementary.
