Garrett honored by Civil Air Patrol

WEST ALEXANDRIA — Having begun his Civil Air Patrol career in 2013, C/Lt. Col. Stephen A. Garrett is a member of the Stuart Powell Composite Squadron. He has served in almost every squadron cadet staff position, including cadet commander. After quickly progressing through the Cadet Program, C/Lt Col Garrett earned the prestigious General Ira C. Eaker Award in December 2017.

Since attending his first encampment in 2014 as a student, he has staffed five encampments, including those held in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Florida. C/Lt Col Garrett has held positions of Stan/Eval Officer, Curriculum Development Officer, Cadet Deputy Commander, and Cadet Commander of the 2018 Ohio Civil Air Patrol Encampment. He has also attended the National Character and Leadership Symposium, Cadet Officer School, National Blue Beret and multiple Region Cadet Summits.

C/Lt Col Garrett’s passion for Civil Air Patrol and high standard of excellence has not gone unnoticed. He has received the Achievement Award, the AFA Squadron Cadet of the Year Award, and was a Distinguished Graduate in the top ten percent of his class at Cadet Officer School.

C/Lt Col Garrett is now a junior at Asbury University where he majors in Communication. An active participant in the university’s Air Force ROTC detachment, and an AFROTC scholarship recipient, he also spends his time as a member of the school’s swim team. Upon graduation, C/Lt Col Garrett looks forward to serving in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
