Library appoints interim director

EATON — Preble County District Library has a new interim director at the helm, drawing from within its ranks Lauren Robinson, formerly the head of the Reference Department.

Robinson takes the place of outgoing Director Andy Mollica, who steered the library ship since this summer, and recently resigned the position for personal reasons. The library’s board of trustees hired Mollica in late spring, and he began the position on June 1. He said the decision to leave was a difficult one.

“In my short time, it’s become abundantly clear how much this library system is valued throughout each of the communities,” Mollica said. “It’s been a pleasure to work within this system, which has a great staff serving the villages and the City of Eaton.”

Robinson came to Preble County District Library after working at the MidPointe Library System, which serves Middletown, Trenton, and West Chester. Educated at Ohio University and a product of the Kent State University School of Library and Information Science, Robinson spent over two years as the Preble County District Library’s Head of the Reference Department before accepting the role of Interim Director.

“I’m thankful for our Board’s vote of confidence,” Robinson said. “This is an exciting opportunity to keep the library system heading in the right direction. With the recent approval of the library’s tax levy, Preble County residents have voiced their appreciation for our libraries, and we’ll continue to work and adapt to the needs of the residents.”
