Nativity play to fill food pantry

LEWISBURG — Lewisburg Baptist Church will be hosting a Nativity Play on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. The admission fee is a non-perishable food item to go to the church’s food pantry.

This is the first year the church has hosted an event like this and this is also the first year they have had their Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action Program running for over 10 years.

All parts in the play are played by the children that are part of the Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action programs. According to Royal Ambassadors Director Donny Wright, the play is about the birth of Christ.

“We have narrators who will be guiding us through the traditional nativity story according to the gospels of Luke and Matthew in the Bible. However, the characters themselves will be speaking some imaginative dialogue throughout. A few songs sung throughout, including a cute tune from from our adorable sheep followed by a fellowship,” Wright said.

“We feel that people should come see our play to experience what god has done for us and his work in Action. [We are holding this play] to show the community the love of Christ and that our family doesn’t just reside inside the walls of our church and homes, but to our entire community and world as we will be live streaming the event on our YouTube channel.”

Admission for the play will be any canned good or non-perishable food item. Wright hopes that this play will fill their food pantry, so they can give back to more families this holiday season.

“We decided to charge a non perishable food item as an admission fee so that we could stock our food pantry that serves families in need through our our community. The Royal Ambassador and Girls in Action programs are geared towards serving others and our community so we thought what better way than to raise food for an ministry in our church,” Wright said.

“This will help our community by stocking our food pantry to serve the families that are in need. This will help our children in understanding that serving others and glorifying god in all they do is what we are meant to be doing.”
