EATON — During a meeting on Monday, Dec. 17, Preble County Commissioners discussed the possibility of having active shooter training in the Preble County Courthouse. Commissioner Rodney Creech was approached with the idea following the shooting in Richmond, Indiana.

“We hear all this stuff happening and when something stupid like that happens in Richmond, Indiana it is very close. There were a lot of families locally that were effected. It hits pretty close to home and I think it is a good exercise,” Creech said.

Commissioner Denise Robertson asked for the sheriff’s response to the idea, but Creech had not yet approached him. Commissioner Chris Day said he would want to talk to the sheriff before moving ahead with any idea.

In other business:

•Rebecah Sorrell, Loretta Puckett, Tonya Hickman, and Nathan McDermitt were reappointed to the Family Services Planning Board.

•Commissioner Creech received an email asking the board to recognize a retired pianist from United Church of Christ. The board agreed to prepare a proclamation.

•Delayed documents were received from CDM Smith for the Sewer District Six (SD6) project.

•The commissioners authorized a payment for Juvenile Court in the amount of $5,972.
