EATON — Preble County Educational Service Center (ESC) held its Preble County Creative Kids Art show last week. There was an elementary art reception on Tuesday, April 16, and a middle school art reception on Thursday, April 18. There will be a high school art reception held on Tuesday, May 7, at the ESC.
According to ESC Assistant to the Treasurer Laura Cottingim, featured artwork is chosen by the teachers. It is then set up for the public to view like an art gallery. Students and their families get to see their art admired by those in attendance.
“These receptions are held to recognize the talent of students in our districts and promote arts in the schools,” Cottingim said. “Middle school and high school are the only ones who receive awards, elementary they all get a ribbon. Judges come in and select first through fourth place and the scores are tallied to get the winners. They also select a best of show out of all of the first place winners.”
Middle school winners included: Jillian Adkins, first place for black and white drawing, Peyton Pitcox, first place for color drawing, Jacey McQueen, first place for mixed media, Maggie Ott First Place for Commercial Art, Reid Tinstman First Place for Pottery, Sonja Friend First Place for Prints, JordynnJewett First Place for Painting, and Maddy Gibbs First Place for Sculpture.
Jillian Adkins won Best of Show for her Black and White Drawing.
