Wright fun offering after school program

WEST MANCHESTER — Wright Fun LLC will be offering after school programs in West Manchester, located at the old Carmelo’s Pizzeria. The shop is currently hosting a DVD Library Service, where customers can sign up monthly and rent from hundreds of titles. Eventually, owner Kyle Wright would like to see the location turn into a sandwich shop.

His plan was to host a summer STEM program, starting on June 10, but did not get enough kids signed up in time. However, he will be hosting after school programs this fall. A middle school program will run from 3-5 p.m. with high school programs running from 6-8 p.m.

He hopes for the high school groups to be more “entrepreneur in spirit” and business-oriented. Their goal would be to transform the building into a sandwich shop. He will host guest speakers, including the health inspectors, insurance representatives, and other contacts needed to start a business.

Programming will still be STEM focused, with a rocket unit, drone unit, and a FIRST LEGO league.

Wright added, once he gets students signed up, he wants to go the direction they wish to go. If they are more interested in rockets, he wants to pursue that.

“There is an educational aspect to this. It is not just come here and have fun. We will do a study hall in the beginning, where they will do their homework. The drone unit isn’t just learning to fly a drone, they have to learn the laws, rules, and regulations. They need someone to teach them the rules, and that is my goal,” he said.
