Preble County Chamber accepting award nominations

PREBLE COUNTY – On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate 2019 and recognize this year’s chamber award winners during the 38th annual PCCC Awards Dinner & Holiday Gala.

“From international manufacturers to unique boutiques and homegrown mom-and-pops, Preble County has it all,” PCCC Executive Director Leslie Collins said. “The Preble County Chamber of Commerce has had another outstanding year, and we’re ready to celebrate and honor those businesses, individuals and nonprofits who have made Preble County what it is today.”

Nominations are now being accepted, both from the public and Preble County Chamber of Commerce members. Nominations can be made online at www.preblecountyohio.com. Printable nomination forms are also available online and at the Preble County Chamber Office, 122 W. Decatur St., Eaton. Nomination deadline is Friday, Nov. 1.

Awards to be given this year include: Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Small Business Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Agribusiness of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Community Improvement Award, Distinguished Service Award, Non-Profit Innovation Award and the Ray Potter Legacy Award. Two new additional awards to be presented include the 2019 Educator of the Year, and 2019 Public Servant of the Year.

Award criteria is as follows:

Citizen of the Year: This award is intended to recognize any community member or business professional in the private sector who has contributed to the betterment of his or her community through service and volunteerism. There is no age requirement for this award.

Community Improvement Award: This award is intended to recognize a municipality, organization or business which has made physical improvements toward the betterment of a facility or community.

Distinguished Service Award: This award is intended to recognize a professional who has demonstrated long-term dedication to his or her business and the Preble County community. Applicant should currently be employed by or still operating his or her business.

Non-Profit Innovation Award: This award is intended to recognize a non-profit agency or business of any size dedicated to promoting growth and utilizing new and innovative ideas and programs within its field of expertise to provide needed services to Preble Countians.

Outstanding Agribusiness: This award is intended to recognize an agriculture-related business which has been an outstanding citizen in the community and demonstrated innovation and achievement in the agricultural or agritourism marketplace.

Outstanding Corporate Citizen: This award is intended to recognize a company which has been in business for at least three years who has shown itself to be an outstanding, valuable corporate citizen in its community. Must have 20 or more full-time employees.

Outstanding Small Business Citizen: This award is intended to recognize a small business with less than 20 full-time employees which has been in business for at least three years and has proven to be an outstanding, valuable citizen in its community.

The Ray Potter Legacy Award: This award is intended to recognize a retired Preble County resident who demonstrated long-term dedication to improving his or her former business or industry and continues to support and promote the Preble County community.

Young Professional of the Year: This award is intended to recognize a professional who is 40 years of age or younger who has made and continues to make significant contributions to his or her business or industry and the Preble County community.

Public Servant of the Year: This award is intended to recognize a government official, first responder or other public servant who has made and continues to make significant contributions to his or her own community or Preble County as a whole.

Educator of the Year: This award is intended to recognize a teacher or administrator currently employed in a Preble County school district who goes above and beyond to aid in the education and success of Preble County students.

Winners will be announced the night of the event.

“On Dec. 4, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce will honor the nominees and award winners during our 38th annual Awards Dinner & Holiday Gala,” Collins noted. “As many of you who have attended in the past know, this event is about the people, businesses, and organizations who make Preble County proud. It is a fantastic night to recognize outstanding people.

“This year, the gala committee has on tap an elegant evening in the Grand Lodge at Wilderness Ridge, located outside Camden — it’s going to be an event you don’t want to miss,” she added.
