LEWISBURG — The Village of Lewisburg will be applying for Ohio Department of National Resources Recreational Trails program monies to repave trails located at the park.

Council held its first reading for the application during a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6.

“The Village of Lewisburg Park Board through its Master Plan completed by Kramer and Associates of Eaton has completed the major components of that plan, and now comes the maintenance of that plan,” Municipal Manager Jeff Sewert explained.

“The existing two miles of recreational trails is in need of rehabilitation and it has been recommended to repave the existing trail to extend its useful life.

“To fund this most important project, the Village of Lewisburg has engaged Kramer and Associates to assist and submit a Recreational Trails Grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the rehabilitation of the Recreational Trails, thus the need to pass the resolution before village council at their Feb. 6 village council meeting.

“Furthermore, as part of the grant application, a public hearing has been set for the Feb. 20 village council meeting and beginning at 7 p.m. to provide for public participation.”

In other business:

•Angela Cox from Royal Canin spoke to council, asking for permission to have a 5K run in late-April. Council approved her request.

•Council held its second reading of a resolution to join the National Flood Insurance program. Council will hold its third reading at its next meeting.

•Council discussed the Records Commission and future plans.

•Council discussed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and possible projects.

The next Lewisburg Village Council regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.
