Folk & Fancy

The EACC is gearing up for the spring Folk & Fancy concert, which will be held in the Eaton Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. All interested singers in the area are invited to sing in this organization. No audition is required. Rehearsals will begin Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Eaton High School vocal music room. The choir will rehearse on Thursday, evenings until the concert in May. Turkey shoot

The first turkey shoot for 2016, sponsored by Twin Valley Rod & Gun Club, will be Sunday, Feb. 28, on the club grounds. Other shoots scheduled are March 6, 13, 20, April 3, 10, 17 and 24. All shoots begin at 1 p.m. Shooters and the public are invited to attend.

BOE meeting

The Preble County Board of Elections will conduct a regular business meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. The meeting will be held in the board’s office at 101 E. Main St., Eaton.

PSBOE work session

The Preble Shawnee Board of Education has scheduled a work session on Feb. 18, at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Preble Shawnee Board of Education Offices, 124 Bloomfield St., Camden. The regular February board meeting will follow the work session at 4 p.m.

Rezabek office hours

State Representative Jeff Rezabek (R-Clayton) has announced he will be hosting district office hours on Feb. 20, at the West Alexandria Branch of Preble County District Library. Rezabek will be at the library (16 North Main Street, West Alexandria, Ohio 45381) from 10 a.m. to noon.

Scholarship fundraiser

Camden United Methodist Church, 100 S. Lafayette Street, Camden, has announced the first annual Preble Shawnee Scholarship Dinner fundraiser will be held on Feb. 20, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the church. All proceeds go toward the scholarship fund. Cost is $8, adults, $4, children 5-10. Under 5 years, free. Menu will consist of chicken and dumplings, two vegetables, salad, dessert and beverage. All seniors in the Preble Shawnee district who wish to further their education can apply. Applications will be available at the high school.

SWCD meeting

The February 2016 Preble Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 a.m. at the office, 1651 N. Barron St., Eaton. Note: this is a change from the regular meeting date. The meeting is open to the public. Questions? Call the office at 937-456-5159.

NT Board meeting change

The National Trail Local School District Board of Education’s February meeting has been changed to Monday, Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

Vaccines for Children program changes

As of Jan. 1, Preble County Public Health will no longer be able to provide state purchased vaccine to those individuals covered by commercial insurance policies. The department will continue to vaccinate these individuals but at a higher cost due to having to purchase the vaccine, according to officials. The Preble County Public Health Immunization Clinic is able to bill Anthem, UMR, United Healthcare, Medical Mutual, Medicaid and the Medicaid Managed Care Plans.
