PCCOA celebrates GivingTuesday

0

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that takes place on Dec. 1. Preble County Council on Aging is responding to meet the needs of eliminating hunger for Preble County Senior Adults through our Sponsor-A-Senior Program.

“PCCOA continues to follow our mission of partnering with our community in assuring the best quality of life for our seniors now and into the future.” Holly Steele, PCCOA Marketing Manager said. “Last year, thanks to our community, our staff that raised over $450, local businesses, and one of our board members, Rodney Creech, who matched a portion of our donations, we were able to meet and exceed our GivingTuesday goal of $6,000. We know this year has been a tough year for most financially, yet we are aiming to exceed our goal again as our seniors still need, maybe now more than ever, to be fed.”

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts.

Giving Tuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging other to get involved.
