OXFORD — Spring is in full bloom, and that means it’s time for brightly colored flowers, elegant horses, and activities for all ages at the 5th annual Red Bricks and Roses horse drawn carriage parade on Saturday, May 7.

The Oxford Farmer’s Market Uptown will open at 8 a.m. to welcome visitors and shoppers, and at 10 a.m., a family festival with horse-themed crafts and games; horse and carriage rides will also be available to the public during this time. At 12 p.m., the Ohio Valley Carriage Club will lead a parade of decorated horses and carriages through the town.

“It’s a fun little festival to kick off the summer season here in Oxford before the students leave,” said Oxford Visitors Bureau executive director Jessica Greene.

“After the parade,” she said, “we invite people to join us at the Miami University Equestrian Center at 2 p.m. They’ll have a whole gamut of Derby Day activities, and people can have their photos taken with horses in the winners’ circle.”
