ELDORADO — A possible home invasion led to the shooting death of a West Alexandria man last Friday, July 10.

According to Sheriff Mike Simpson, on Friday at approximately 6:39 p.m., deputies from his office responded to 540 Lowell Avenue in Eldorado after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a subject had been shot at the residence.

“The caller reported that a male subject had entered through the front door, holding a gun,.” Simpson said.

A resident at the home shot the subject one time, according to Simpson.

Deputies and EMS personnel arrived on scene and found a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his torso, Simpson reported.

The man who was shot, identified as Jacob Craft, was removed by Careflight and transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Craft later died from his injuries.

Deputies secured a search warrant for the residence and processed it for evidence. A vehicle believed to be associated to the subject who was shot was towed from the scene to the Sheriff’s Office where it was to be processed for evidence.

Deputies recovered two firearms at the scene, Simpson said in a press release.

Investigators were working on the case at press time and it remains under investigation by the PCSO.

New Paris Police, North Central EMS, Eldorado and West Manchester Fire Departments assisted officials at the scene.
