Apple Butter Festival

The Oxford Museum Association invites the public to the annual Apple Butter Festival, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2, at Hueston Woods Pioneer Farm, 6924 Brown Road, Oxford. The festival will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Admission is $4 for adults, with children 12-under free. There will be apple butter making, spinning, blacksmithing demonstrations, kettle corn, funnel cakes and other food service; pioneer crafts, alpacas, fall produce and more. From 2-4 p.m. each day, East Fork Junction will entertain with bluegrass music.

GM/Delphi retirees

All General Motors/Delphi retirees are welcome to attend a monthly retirees breakfast at the Dixie Diner, 595 W. Main St., New Lebanon, the second Wednesday of each month.

Eaton financial report

The City of Eaton has filed its Annual Financial Report for the year ended Dec. 31, 2015. Copies of this report are on file in the office of the Director of Finance, 328 North Maple Street, Eaton, and are available for inspection.

Road closing

Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 a.m., Sonora Road is closed between North Verona Road and South Verona Road for approximately 10 weeks for a full bridge replacement. The closure will begin at Box 7641 and end at the intersection of North Verona and Sonora Roads. This will be closed too all traffic.

PCRCG financials

The fiscal year 2016 financial statement of the Preble County Schools Regional Council of Governments is on file in the Treasurer’s Office, 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton. They are available for review upon request.

Budget notice

The 2017 Milford Township budget is available for public inspection at the office of the Fiscal Officer. Contact Mollie Hansel at 513-255-2501 for arrangements.

OSU Extension Safe Food Handler Level 1 training

There will be a Safe Food Handler, Level 1 training on Oct. 14, from 1-5 p.m., at The Ohio State University Extension Office on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 1001 S. Main Street, Dayton. Safe Food Handler empowers employees as they learn how food becomes unsafe and their role in keeping food safe. ServSafe® is the industry standard for food safety education. Participants receive the ServSafe® Food Handler Guide and a certificate of completion. This class is for employees who prepare and serve food whether that is in a church, food pantry, food bank, child care center, home child care, Head Start, restaurant, or festival volunteers. Upon completion of this 4-hour course, the employee will receive a certificate of completion. Early childhood employees will receive an ODJFS in-service form.
